Set Layout Preferences

You can specify the default behavior for opening views and programs in the Program Listing Area using the Preferences dialog.

To set general startup preferences

1. Select Window, Preferences.

   The Preferences dialog opens.

2. Expand General, Editors and select Perspectives.

   The Preferences dialog opens the Perspectives page.

3. Change the default settings for the following fields to suit your needs:
   • Open a new perspective

     Specifies how to display the views and programs in the Program Listing Area. Select one of the following methods for opening these resources:

     • In the same window—Opens a selected resource within the active window.
     • In a new window—Opens a selected resource in a new window.

     Default: In the same window

   • Open a new view

     Specifies where you want to open the view or programs in the CA InterTest main window. Select one of the following methods for opening these resources:

     • Within the perspective—Opens a selected resource at a predefined location within the CA InterTest main window layout.
     • As fast view—Opens a selected resource at the left of the CA InterTest main window layout and displays its contents.

     Default: Within the perspective

   • Open the associated perspective when creating a new project

     Specifies the default behavior for opening views and programs in the Program Listing Area. Select one of the following methods for opening these resources:

     • Always open—Opens a selected resource within the active window.
     • Never open—Opens a selected resource in a new window.
     • Prompt—Displays a confirm message to open the selected resource. When you click yes, the selected view opens.

       Default: Prompt

4. Click Apply to save the settings.
5. Click OK.

   CA InterTest saves the changes and closes the Preferences dialog. The changes are used in all succeeding debug sessions unless you change the preferences again.

Note: You can restore the default configuration settings anytime on the Preferences dialog. To restore the default settings, click Restore Defaults, click Apply, and then click OK.
