When you enable Edit mode for an object from the Data Window, you can do the following tasks:
You can edit multiple objects in different windows simultaneously. In addition to editing an object, you can perform all the tasks mentioned in read-only mode.
Enable edit mode:
Follow these steps:
The Layout-Filter dialog appears.
Note: For information about how to apply a layout-filter, see Apply Layout-filter on an Object.
The object data is loaded and displayed in the Data Window in read-only mode.
Note: If you have specified Layout-Filter criteria, the object filtered data is loaded to the Data Window.
Note: You can also enable edit mode by clicking the
icon from the top right corner of the Data Window.
Edit mode is enabled for the selected object and a
<ADD ROW> icon appears below the last row of the table.
Set a value as null:
Using the Set NULL option you can set the value of a cell as null. For the columns that do not support null values the Set NULL option is disabled.
Right-click on a cell from the Data Window and select Set NULL
The selected value is set to null.
Update a row:
After you enable edit mode in the Data Window, you can update the object data as required.
Follow these steps:
The value in the record is highlighted.
The row update is logged and displayed in the Change Manager.
All the data changes of an object are logged in the Change Manager. These changes are not committed to the database unless specified. You can commit or discard the data changes from Change Manager or Data Window. For more information about data changes, see Manage Data Changes.
